One of the things I like the most about this pitch, apart from the fact that The Wormworld Saga looks really nice on the iPad, is that it wouldn’t have made any sense just a few short years ago.
This scene is moving fast, People.

Looks beautiful, and it is really cool how he embraces the screen as a seperate publishing space with it’s own unique design constraints. I do wish I could fund it, but at present moral support is the best I can offer.
ReplyScott says:March 15, 2011 at 7:38 amI’m sure that all kinds of support are appreciated.
ReplyDraculasaurus says:March 15, 2011 at 7:47 amThat dude is talented, focused, creative and has a plan.
I think he’s got a great chance at success.
Wormworld saga looks great (though the heavy painting style kind of kills the expressiveness of the characters while the overworked backgrounds drown them out) but from what I’ve seen it’s just another “little kid finds out he’s special and goes on a generic fantasy adventure” story. Probably good for the ten year old set but do ten year olds have their own money to fund something like this? As an adult I just have no interest.
ReplyMatthew Marcus says:March 15, 2011 at 5:45 pmHave you seen the panel of the flashback to the fire? The look on the kid’s face is intense. I think the artist does a good job making the character expressions shine through the background.
ReplyElson 'Darkspeeds' Wong says:March 15, 2011 at 8:41 amIt’s funny how you posted this Scott cuz I just came across this amazing and talented artist and his project just 24 hours ago after a random search for web-comics. I definitely wish him all the best in his initiatives. *thumbs up*
ReplyAl Skaar says:March 15, 2011 at 9:02 amI am as excited by Daniel’s plan as by the prospect of following the Wormworld saga on the iPad. This is the first time I’ve heard of Kickstart and it seems like a great idea. I was impressed by his video pitch too.
ReplyOluseyi says:March 15, 2011 at 10:45 amPretty awesome pitch. I like anything that showcases artists finding new and interesting ways to publish and profit from their work, and there are a ton of great ideas in the Wormworld Saga app, like being able to turn off the speech/thought bubbles and seeing the original greyscale “thumbnail” artwork. I might swipe those ideas for my own upcoming iPad/Android projects!
Thanks, Scott. (Love your books!)
